THE PREDICTION
A transfer embargo has prevented Reading from bringing in any players ahead of the opening round of Championship games as they balance their books in a bid to not fall foul of FFP violations. They have also been heavily weakened by the departure of attacking midfielder Michael Olise to Crystal Palace. Add that to forward Yakou Meite being sidelined with an ACL injury and the Reading attack looks very much subpar compared to last season. Stoke may well be set to capitalise at home, having brought in a number of players experienced in promotion at this level, such as Norwich’s Mario Vrancic and Watford’s Ben Wilmot. No doubt Stoke heavily underachieved last season and when taking into account the players at their disposal, Michael O’Neill’s side should get off to a winning start at the Bet365 Stadium.
