THE PREDICTION

Despite a typically full-blooded performance at Oakwell in front of their own fans for the first time this season, Barnsley fell 0-1 to Swansea in their Championship playoff semi-final first leg courtesy of an outstanding strike by Andre Ayew. The Tykes weren’t without their chances, but an excellent performance from Swans keeper Freddie Woodman denied them, leaving the South Wales based side with a narrow advantage heading into the return leg at the Liberty Stadium. Barnsley manager Valerien Ismael will be tempted to make a change to his frontline, with Carlton Morris a contender to play from the start after proving a handful off the bench in this first leg. With nothing to lose, the visitors won’t be afraid to take the game to Swansea in an attempt to find the net against them for the first time this season. However, whilst Barnsley will no doubt carve out chances for themselves, their highline could well be punished by Swansea on the counter attack. With that in mind, both teams to score looks the smart play in this one.
