THE PREDICTION
A 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brentford in midweek was Rotherham’s fifth in succession with their backlog of fixtures finally catching up to them physically, after two separate outbreaks of Covid-19 over the course of the season cause a wave of postponements. Paul Warne’s side won’t give up and a game in hand of their opponents, they can still make up the four points needed to overhaul Derby and stay in the division. However, this is simply a must win game at home to Blackburn. Tony Mowbray’s side found their shooting boots last weekend, thrashing Huddersfield 5-2 at Ewood Park, but Blackburn have failed to win in their last four league matches on the road. Rotherham have no choice but sacrifice a portion of defensive stability as they go in search of the three points by pushing bodies forward and whilst this may see them gain more fortune in front of goal than in recent games having not scored in successive Championship fixtures, Blackburn have the quality in attack to take full advantage of the space that is likely to be afforded to them inside the opposition half. Whilst the result itself is too close to call, it would be a surprise if both teams were not to find the net in this one.
