However, Mick McCarthy’s side have lost form at the worst possible time with a late goal holding them to a 2-2 draw at home to Blackburn last time out, meaning that the Bluebirds have accrued just a single point from their last three league games. Those three matches have seen Cardiff ship a whopping eight goals and Reading will look to capitalise. The hosts have won three and picked up ten points from their most recent four fixtures at the Madejski Stadium, scoring eight goals themselves and with that all-important home advantage in their favour here, the Royals have to be favoured in what is simply a must win game for Veljko Paunovic’s men if they realistically are to have any hope of breaking back into the playoff picture.
