THE PREDICTION
Derby’s disastrous 3-0 defeat away at Preston last time out was their fourth successive loss and the 21st-place Rams are only four points above Rotherham who are directly below them and looking to condemn Derby to the bottom three. The pressure is starting to build alarmingly on Wayne Rooney’s side and Birmingham will be confident of inflicting more punishment on them as they continue to pull well clear of relegation themselves. Since Lee Bowyer joined the club, the Blues have accrued 14 points from seven Championship matches with just one defeat. Currently unbeaten in their last five, Birmingham are six points clear of Derby and away from home, Bowyer’s men aren’t expected to take any unnecessary risks in this match that could see them fall to defeat and see Derby close the gap on them to three points. Therefore, a turgid affair could be in prospect with under 2.5 goals scored over the course of 90 minutes to be considered.
