THE PREDICTION
Barnsley certainly weren’t expected to find themselves in the Championship playoffs come the start of the season, however a magnificent season led by head coach Valerien Ismael since the Frenchman took charge back in October has led the Tykes to a fifth-place finish. They take on Swansea, who are appearing in the playoffs for a second successive season under the stewardship of Steve Cooper. Home advantage lies with Barnsley in this first leg and with little pressure on their shoulders considering that many wouldn’t have seen them being able to make the playoffs, the home side will enjoy the prospect of playing with the freedom Ismael’s management has afforded their young team. Swansea will likely be happy to remain on parity with the second leg in South Wales and will attempt to dictate the tempo here via the retention of possession. Barnsley however, are expected to cause the Swans real problems with their high press and non-stop energy over the course of 90 minutes. With home advantage in their favour, Barnsley should be seriously considered draw no bet in this first leg.
