THE PREDICTION

Barnsley are quietly moving upwards in the table as they secured their third win in four league fixtures, after beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 in a hotly contested Yorkshire derby. Here, they host the unpredictable Preston, who followed up an excellent 3-0 victory at home to Middlesbrough with a thumping 0-3 loss away to Luton at the weekend. Alex Neil’s men cannot seem to find any sort of consistency, which is preventing them from being anything other than a midtable side at this level. Should Preston turn up at Oakwell and play to the standard in which they are capable of, then the Lilywhites can win this game. However, Barnsley are riding the crest of a wave with their squad’s high fitness levels seeing them cope with the congested Championship schedule better than most clubs. With home advantage in their favour here, the Tykes may have enough to edge what should be a close encounter
