AZ Alkmaar named an extremely strong side and it paid off as they earned an impressive point at home to Napoli in midweek. That point now means they are level with Real Sociedad but Sociedad go to Naples, who are through, next week whilst AZ host Rijeka. This means the focus could well be on that game despite the opposition they will be playing. AZ have won three and drawn one of their post-Europa League games which is an extremely impressive record. They come up against a Groningen side who have only lost one match this season, including a 1-0 victory over Ajax. Since a sequence of 1-1, 3-3, 4-4, 2-2 and 2-2 at the start of the season, AZ’s have kept three clean sheets in four matches with the only goal conceded coming late on in a 2-1 win at Heracles last week. Groningen’s matches have averaged out at 2.2 goals per game and have kept a clean sheet in half of their fixtures this season. Under 2.5 goals seems like a safe bet.
