THE PREDICTION
Ajax’s week couldn’t have been much worse. They had their second Eredivisie loss last week at home to Twente in which they rested the bulk of their first XI in order to beat Atalanta and progress through to the Champions League knockouts. However, a game that was unexpectedly of few chances went against the Dutch giants. The fact it was such a late Luis Muriel winner will exaggerate the strain on the body as well as the mental fatigue that could set in after a second consecutive season in which they’ve been knocked out in the group stages. They come up against a PEC Zwolle side that have only lost one game in their last seven. Admittedly, that run only includes one victory. That victory came in their most recent outing in an impressive 2-1 victory over Ajax’s title competitors Vitesse Arnhem. Zwolle came from behind in the second-half to clinch their second victory of the season. Ajax are expected to get back on track in Amsterdam but PEC will make it difficult so an Ajax victory but under 3.5 goals looks a solid bet.
