Palmeiras were in good form ahead of their first leg Copa Libertadores semi-final clash with River Plate but nobody anticipated that they would be able to leave Argentina with a three-goal lead. They were then able to make it four straight wins in all competitions as they overcame Sport Recife at the weekend to leave the Brazilians with just one defeat in their last 13 matches. River Plate have it all to do to overturn that horror show but despite being unbeaten in all nine matches away from home since their return to action in September, Palmeiras have not suffered defeat in any of their last 11 at home. That record is all the more remarkable having conceded just one goal during that run and with that in mind, the hosts should be able to earn at least a draw to ensure safe passage into the final.
