These two had very different seasons last year. Flamengo performed well and finished in the top three whilst off-field issues blighted Sao Paulo. The home team have begun their 2022 campaign with back-to-back Copa Libertadores victories against Sporting Cristal and Talleres de Cordoba and a 1-1 draw with Atletico Goianiense in the opening match of the Serie A campaign last season. The visitors started their Serie A season with an impressive 4-0 hammering of Athletico Paranaense last weekend.
