Athletico Paranaense come into this on the back of a 2-1 win away at Penarol in the first-leg of their Copa Sudamericana semi-final in midweek. That victory and run to the latter stages of that competition has distracted from their poor league form whereby their victory last weekend ended a run of seven without a win in the league for the hosts. They now come up against a Gremio side that, coached by Luiz Felipe Scolari, have been a lot more impressive since his arrival. They remain in the relegation battle but have won four of their last five matches in Serie A. Given their stubbornness, a low-scoring match looks set to be the case here.
