THE PREDICTION

Anderlecht and Mechelen start this weekend’s fixtures in the lower-half of the Belgian Pro League but it would be a surprise to see them there at the halfway stage. Anderlecht, especially, should see their form improve now they have been dumped out of the inaugural Europa Conference League by Vitesse and they do have a game in-hand over most of the league due to those congested midweek fixtures. Mechelen’s form was improving after a three-match losing streak and they will hope that the international break has not come at the wrong time. Last season, a home game for Anderlecht would have almost guaranteed at least a point but it remains to be seen how they fare here. Take both teams to score and double chance in favour of Anderlecht here, which would have come through in both their meetings last season.
