Velez Sarsfield were unable to break the deadlock against Patronato in their final game of Group 6 of the Copa Diego Armando Maradona and their failure to win means they must now battle it out in the Fase Complementación. They may be distracted by their involvement in the Copa Sudamericana but the same can be said of Racing Club who remaining the Copa Libertadores. Racing were poor in the group stages and struggled defensively but they only found the back of the net on two occasions.
