Sporting Kansas City come into this on the back of a comfortable 3-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps in their first playoff match last weekend. Real Salt Lake squeezed into the top seven and the Western Conference playoff places on the final matchday and then made headlines with a bizarre victory against the Seattle Sounders. Their opponents overwhelmingly dominated the match and RSL managed no shots throughout the encounter but they managed to take the game in a penalty shootout.
