THE PREDICTION

Seattle Sounders’ 2020 season was a fairly impressive one as they managed a second-placed finish in the western conference. The most major outgoing over the winter was the departure of Gustav Svensson in midfield but they have brought in Joao Paulo from Botafogo to fill that role. The key men remain the captain Nicolas Lodeiro as well as last season’s top scorer Raul Ruidiaz. They kick off the season against a Minnesota United side that reached the playoffs in 2020. There has been a gradual progression of this franchise since their debut season in 2017 and the signings of Wil Trapp, Juan Agudelo and Ramon Abila should see that progression continue. These two were the two highest scorers in the western conference in 2020 so an entertaining game could be in store; over 2.5 goals looks a good bet for this one.
