They finished 13th with 12 draws and come into the 2021 season having appointed Hernan Losada as manager. Losada has previously been coach of Beerschot in Belgium until January 2021. They come up against a New York City side that lost the joint second-fewest matches in MLS last season. The arrival of Alfredo Morales will bolster their attack significantly. His arrival, as well as Beerschot’s reputation for being relatively high-scoring during Losada’s tenure, would suggest this game could be quite high-scoring to kick off the season.
