San Jose Earthquakes come into this on the back of a 3-1 win over Dallas that helped them recover from their opening-day defeat to Houston Dynamo. They have dominated the ball in both matches but failed to pose any incisive threat to Houston. They come up against a DC United side that fell to a 1-0 defeat against New England Revolution last weekend. They did manage a victory against New York City in their opening match but have been fairly unconvincing in both games. San Jose will look to dominate the ball and that, combined with home advantage, should see them as slight favourites for this one.
