THE TEAM NEWS

NIGERIA

Jose Peseiro switched to a back three system in The Super Eagles’ defeat of the Ivory Coast and they kept with that system as they edged past Guinea-Bissau, too. With no injury or suspension concerns, they are expected to make just one change with Alex Iwobi likely to replace Joe Aribo in midfield.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Nwabali; Ajayi, Omeruo, Bassey; Osayi-Samuel, Onyeka, Iwobi, Aina; Chukwueze, Osimhen, Simon

CAMEROON

Rigobert Song has decided to drop Andre Onana in the Cameroon goal for their defeat of Gambia with Fabrice Ondoa looking likely to be their number one ‘keeper for the rest of the tournament. They did switch to a back three system the other day. Despite appearing a little shaky at the back, Song will be tempted to stick with that after victory.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-3): Ondoa; Castelletto, Wooh, Tolo; Tchato, Ntcham, Anguissa, Yongwa; Toko-Ekambi, Magri, Nkoudou

THE PREDICTION

This is one between two of the leading nations on the African continent but they both headed into the tournament on the back of some underwhelming form with general in-fighting at a higher level than the dugout. Nigeria, who are just about still coached by Jose Peseiro, recovered from an underwhelming 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their opening match by edging past hosts Ivory Coast with a penalty and then a 1-0 win against a poor Guinea-Bissau side. They face a Cameroonian side that only just squeezed through their group by defeating Gambia by three goals to two with an own goal equaliser in the 87th minute and then a dramatic 90th minute winner from Christopher Wooh. Nigeria, despite their lack of fluency in attack, should have enough to edge past a Cameroonian side close to crisis.

TIP: NIGERIA TO WIN & UNDER 3.5 GOALS
