With the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on the horizon, we've taken a look at which teams boast the most wins in the competition's history.
Host nation Qatar take on Ecuador in the opening match at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. It would be a bit of a surprise to see either of those teams go deep into the tournament but both have a major opportunity to get an opening match victory. In their debut tournament, it would of course be Qatar’s first ever World Cup win, whilst Ecuador are looking for their fifth.

Brazil, as expected, are the winning-most team in terms of matches, and trophies, in FIFA World Cup history. Under the management of Tite, the Selecao will be hoping to add to their tally of 73 victories and five trophies.
Die Mannschaft are Brazil's closest competitors and the only team with a realistic chance of overtaking the Brazilians, at least within the next couple of decades.
