THE PREDICTION
One side come into this on the back of a poor performance that they nicked and the other come into this on the back of a blistering start that faded. Portugal defeated Spain with just 43% of the possession, one shot on target and 12 shots fewer than the Spanish but a Jorge Cuenca own goal saw them progress. Germany, on the other hand, were excellent for 15-20 minutes in which they could’ve led by a couple more than the two that they already did lead by as the wonderful youngster Florian Wirtz hit a brace. After that, the Germans managed just 39% of the ball against a toothless Netherlands side. This is a game that will be low-scoring and cagey as most finals tend to be. Portugal have the better players but neither side have been totally convincing throughout the match and Germany have the mentality and, most importantly, ‘clutch players’ in Florian Wirtz and Lukas Nmecha would suggest that Germans are slight favourites despite this not being the greatest of Germany under-21 sides.
