THE PREDICTION
The Czech’s come into the tournament on the back of a qualifying campaign where they only conceded two goals and kept eight clean sheets. That defensive solidity has been built upon a consistent back four that played the majority of, if not all, of the qualifying period. They are coming up against an Italian side who are also on the back of their own tight campaign where they kept seven clean sheets but a 3-0 defeat away to Sweden remained a blight. The key difference would be the attacking quality of the Italians; their squad boasts Patrick Cutrone, one of two full internationals, as well as the impressive Gianluca Scamacca of Genoa who has managed seven goals in twelve under-21 caps as well as a few goals in Serie A this season. Although the key stats show that Czech Republic have only had one draw in their last eleven U21 Euro group stage matches, this one should be close.
