THE PREDICTION
Gent and Anderlecht meet in the Belgian Cup final, with the former aiming to secure back-to-back cup triumphs having beaten Standard Liege in last year’s final. Anderlecht finished above Gent in the league, but were beaten 1-0 by Gent back in March, the last time these two teams collided. As was the case in that match, this is expected to prove an extremely close affair with both sides prioritising a solid defensive shape and little in a way of risk, particularly early on as neither will want to wind up chasing the game in the pressure cooker of a final. With that in mind, under 2.5 goals scored should be backed here. In terms of the final outcome, it would be no surprise to see this final be decided in extra time, or possibly even via the penalty shootout, but Gent have shown what it takes to succeed in knockout competition and may do enough to secure the trophy again.
