THE PREDICTION
A historic day awaits for Antalyaspor as they compete in their first Turkish Cup final since the 1999/2000 having never won the competition in this history. After beating Alanyaspor 2-0 in the semi-finals, their players now have an opportunity to write their names into club folklore. However, to do that they must beat a Besiktas side fresh off the back of being crowned Turkish Super Lig champions after a thrilling title race came to a conclusion this past Saturday, with Sergen Yalçın’s men beating Goztepe 1-2 on the final day of the season to lift the league title on goal difference. Now they have the chance to secure a domestic double for the first time since 2008/09. Besiktas head into this Turkish Cup final understandably riding the crest of a wave following the weekend and when taking into account that their players are of a superior all-round standard to Antalyaspor, they will rightly be considered favourites here. However, Antalyaspor will have been preparing for this day for two months and will no doubt leave everything they have physically on the field in a bid to cause an upset and lift their first Turkish Cup trophy. Whatever the outcome, a tight affair is expected and under 2.5 goals scored over the course of 90 minutes looks on the cards.
