THE PREDICTION
Rayo’s impressive run of form came to a halt with a 3-1 defeat at home to Mallorca at the weekend; that defeat, though, came against a fellow promotion contender so does not bring shame on them. It was their first defeat in eight as they have pushed from playoff hopefuls to outsiders for automatic promotion. They are the fourth highest scorers in the division and are capable of troubling Liga teams as they defeated Elche 2-0 in the previous round. They come up against a Barca side on the back of a solid win against Elche, too. A 2-0 win without Messi is something to be happy about, regardless of how unconvincing it was. Rayo can score, Barca are without Messi and are unreliable; over 2.5 goals looks a really solid bet.
