THE PREDICTION
Almeria’s thumping 5-0 win over top-flight Alaves was backed up with a 2-2 draw at home to Sabadell in which they led twice but conceded a lead with just five minutes to go. Their main focus will remain on promotion from the Segunda Division but this is a real chance of getting to the quarter-finals. Their opponents pulled off their first victory since October at the weekend with an impressive 3-1 win at home to Granada. Performances have improved since the turn of the year with draws against Valencia, Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. However, their focus is purely on survival. They did manage to beat Espanyol, Almeria’s promotion competitors, in the last round but Almeria’s expressive victory over Alaves will give them serious confidence of an upset.
