THE PREDICTION
St. Johnstone beat an in-form Livingston to win the Scottish League Cup for the first time earlier this season and could claim a historic double if they beat Hibernian here at Hampden Park. The 2014 Scottish Cup champions will face the 2015 champions Hibs in front of a limited but likely boisterous crowd for what should be an emotional occasion on Saturday if the recent FA Cup equivalent was anything to go by. The Saints come into this match winless sin two after a drubbing by Celtic and most recently a 0-0 at home to Livingston but their cup final experience from February should not be discounted and they have beaten Scottish Premiership champions Rangers to reach this stage. Hibs, though, are unbeaten in three matches across all competitions and sit 18 points higher than their opponents in the Premiership table. However, St. Johnstone have won all three encounters with Hibs this calendar year with back-to-back 1-0 wins in the league and, most notably, a 3-0 hammering in the League Cup.
This is a tricky result to pick with returning fans a likely outside factor but their league cup exploits and a three-match winning streak over Hibernian suggests St. Johnstone can make this their most successful season yet by winning the Scottish FA Cup.
