MC Alger could leapfrog ES Tunis and clinch top spot in Group D in this final round of fixtures, however the expectation is that the Algerian side would be content with the draw that would be enough to see them qualify for the knockout stage as Group D runners-up. Defeat for either side brings consequences in terms of the final Group D placements. For ES Tunis, a loss sees them miss out on top spot, whilst MC Alger losing would see them knocked out of the CAF Champions League if Zamalek were to beat Teungueth in their final group game. Therefore, an extremely cautious affair is expected with neither team willing to take any risk offensive in a bid to win this one.
