Belouizdad lost just one Group B match as they advanced to the CAF Champions League quarter-finals as group runners-up with nine points to their name. They host Group D winners ES Tunis in this first leg with the visitors having accrued 11 points and three wins from their six group games. Most impressive from an ES Tunis perspective is the fact that they scored at least one goal in all six of those group fixtures and an away goal here will prove crucial from their perspective. However, the hosts come into this one off the back of three consecutive clean sheets in the competition, but although they will prove difficult to break down the Algerian side must also be aware that a first leg lead with home advantage in their favour could be vital ahead of a second leg trip to Tunisia. Either way, a tentative contest may well be the cards and under 2.5 goals scored is to be favoured in this one.
