Flavio Cobolli vs Yibing Wu prediction

Flavio Cobolli booked his place in the second-round of the French Open after a straight sets win over compatriot Andrea Pellegrino. Cobolli looked to be racing towards victory as he went 5-0 up in the third set, only for Pellegrino to threaten a comeback as he won three straight games. Nevertheless, the Mexican Open champion would close it out to win 6-4 7-6 (4) 6-3. The Italian’s best result of the clay court season was a final appearance at the BMW Open.

He now takes on Yibing Wu in the next stage. The Chinese player impressed in round one as he beat Marcos Giron comfortably. He was broken just once as he won 7-5 6-2 6-4 after two hours and 12 minutes.

They played each other for the first time earlier this year in Acapulco, with Cobolli winning 7-6 6-1. However, the match was closer than the score-line suggested, with the Italian saving eight break points in total. He should be considered the favourite given his clay court pedigree and higher level this season, but Wu possesses enough quality to make this competitive.
