Flavio Cobolli won his first two matches at the Halle Open in dramatic fashion. He defeated Joao Fonseca and Denis Shapovalov in deciding tiebreaks, saving a match point in the former as he reached the quarter-finals. He would go on to lose to Alexander Zverev for the second time in a month after also losing to the German in the third-round of Roland Garros. Eastbourne was more disappointing, as Jacob Fearnley defeated the Italian 6-2 6-2 in the first-round.
Beibit Zhukayev makes his Grand Slam debut after winning all three of his matches in qualifying. He struggled elsewhere, as he failed to make it out of qualifying for both the Birmingham Classic and Stuttgart Open.
Cobolli has two titles to his name this season and has broken into the top 30 of the world rankings for the first-time. He also showed his fighting qualities during the Halle Open and he is likely to swat aside the challenge of the world number 251.
