Flavio Cobolli is into his first Masters semi-final as he came from a set down to beat Tommy Paul at the Cincinnati Open. Paul had beaten top seed Alexander Zverev in the round-of-16, and he looked on course for the last four as he went ahead. However, Cobolli fought back from a set down for the second successive match to win 2-6 6-3 6-4.
Arthur Fils advanced to another Masters semi-final after a comfortable win over Thiago Agustin Tirante. Fils broke in the eighth game of the first set and closed it out to take the lead, before breaking on two more occasions in the second to win 6-3 6-2. He is now the first Frenchman since Guy Forget in 1991 to reach the last four of three Masters 1000 events in one season.
Fils leads the head-to-head 2-0. He has performed at a very high level throughout the event, and Cobolli cannot afford yet another slow start.
