Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction

Felix Auger-Aliassime continued his excellent sequence of results with a rock-solid showing against Jesper de Jong.

The Canadian, who is yet to drop a set in his first tournament since his US Open semi-final run, prevailed 6-4 7-5 against the Dutchman.

The 12th seed will now meet Lorenzo Musetti for an eighth time after the eighth seed triumphed 7-5 7-6 to once again come up trumps in the business end of the sets in a tight clash with his compatriot Luciano Darderi.

The Italian leads the head-to-head 4-3 against FAA and has won the last two, including the Paris Olympics and a 4-6 6-2 6-3 success at the Miami Open earlier this year.

The latter showdown was the first time Musetti had won on a hardcourt with the Canadian previously winning twice on the surface in indoor conditions in straight sets. 

Given the outstanding form of both players over the past few months, this feels like a case of the unstoppable force against the immovable object. 

It could be that Felix is slightly fresher and that could be a key factor, with a good chance this will be decided in a third.
