Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Laslo Djere prediction
Felix Auger-Aliassime enjoyed an encouraging run in Stuttgart. He picked up his first win on grass since 2022 by defeating Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. He then beat Justin Engel to make the last four but he would lose to Taylor Fritz in straight sets. This was still a step in the right direction for the Canadian after a largely forgettable clay court season.
He takes on Laslo Djere in round one of Halle. Djere beat Nikoloz Basilashvili and Jesper De Jong in qualifying to enter the main draw. He had already competed in a grass court event but lost in the first-round of the Libema Open to Mark Lajal. The Serb is not as comfortable on this surface in comparison to clay but did make the third-round of Wimbledon two years ago.
Djere has won both of their previous meetings, with both taking place within a week of each other on clay in 2019. One of these matches saw the Serb beat an 18-year-old Auger-Aliassime in the final of the Rio Open. The Canadian is far more experienced now and seems to have adjusted well to the grass so far. He should pick up his first win over Djere this week.
