Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Daniel Altmaier prediction
Felix Auger-Aliassime battled his way past Alexandre Muller to make it through to the round-of-16 at the Paris Masters. He dropped the first set and went an early break down in the second, though he found a way to draw level. The set would head to a tiebreak and Muller was just one point away from having a match point at 5-4 up, but the Canadian would win the next three points and force a decider. Muller kept battling away and another tiebreak was needed, with Auger-Aliassime once again holding his nerve to win 5-7 7-6 (5) 7-6 (4). He won the European Open less than a fortnight ago and still has a chance of qualifying for the World Tour Finals next month.
He faces Daniel Altmaier in the next round. The German advanced after defeating three-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud in straight sets. Ruud had also won a title indoors in Stockholm, but Altmaier was largely in control. He was broken when serving for the match at 5-4 but subsequently broke the Norwegian’s serve in the very next game and wrapped up a 6-3 7-5 win.
Altmaier does lead the head-to-head 2-1, beating Auger-Aliassime in Monte-Carlo this year. The Canadian did win their most recent meeting in Hamburg comfortably. Auger-Aliassime has not been at his best so far this week and he’s likely to be pushed by Altmaier, who had already success against him in the past.
