The Canadian struggled at the beginning of the match, but he quickly found his groove as he won 4-6 6-1 7-5 6-0 after three hours and four minutes. He will now take on Brandon Nakashima. The American defeated Luca Van Assche in five sets to book a place in round three. Nakashima was two sets to one down but levelled in the fourth set.
