Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Arthur Fils prediction
Felix Auger-Alliassime began the defence of his title with a straight sets win over three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. The Canadian won 82% of his first serve points and thundered down 16 aces on his way to a 6-4 7-6 (3) win. Auger-Aliassime created 10 break point opportunities in total but was frustrated at times by the wily Wawrinka.
He will now take on Arthur Fils. The 21-year-old continued his return to the tour from injury with a second successive win this week. He beat fellow countryman Ugo Blanchet in two tight sets to make it through to the last eight. Fils squandered the opportunity to serve out the first set on two occasions but still edged ahead after the tiebreak. He broke again as Blanchet served to stay in the match to win 7-6 (4) 7-5.
Auger-Aliassime is the defending champion and will deservedly start as the favourite but Fils will take plenty of confidence from his two victories so far this week and has the talent to hurt the Canadian at times.
