Felix Auger Aliassime matched his best ever run at Roland Garros as he came from a set down to beat Brandon Nakashima and book a place in the round-of-16. Auger Aliassime was broken when serving to stay in the first set, but he then responded with a dominant second to level the match up. The Canadian came from a break down in sets three and four, controlling both tiebreaks to win 5-7 6-1 7-6 (4) 7-6 (1).
He now faces Alejandro Tabilo as he also came from a set down to bring Moise Kouame’s slam debut to an end in the third-round. Kouame was bidding to become the youngest player to reach the round-of-16 at Roland Garros since Bjorn Borg in 1973, and he looked on course for yet another win as he took the first set. However, Tabilo roared back and despite relinquishing his break advantage in the fourth set, he would go on to win 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (9).
Auger Aliassime is the second highest seed remaining in the competition, and he has a fantastic opportunity to advance further. Nevertheless, Tabilo is a dangerous player on clay and won’t be an easy opponent. There’s a very strong chance this is decided in four or five sets.
