Federico Coria will face-off with Pierre Hugues-Herbert with the winner of the clash of the qualifiers being rewarded with a place in the second round.
The 33-year-old Coria is very much a clay-court specialist nowadays, rarely shifting from his favoured surface to play in Grand Slam tournaments.

A hard-court title in a Challenger event in Cherbourg will have given him a confidence-booster prior to the clay swing while his first outing on the Terre battue ended in the quarter finals in Naples.
The 34-year-old Frenchman does have a winning record against Coria thanks to a 6-2 6-4 victory on the hard courts at Winston-Salem back in 2021, but we think the South American is a different proposition on clay.
