Pep Guardiola has two superb options to lead the Man City line in Sergio Aguero (£10.5m) and Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) and it will be intriguing to see which player performs better in FPL this season. For the first time since the Brazilian arrived at the Etihad, Jesus outgunned the Argentine in terms of FPL points last time out as he notched 146 compared to Aguero’s 132. However, that only tells part of the story with Jesus’ total coming on the back of 2,018 minutes on the pitch compared to Aguero’s 1,449.

Breaking that down, Jesus return 0.07 points per minute played whereas it was 0.09 points per minute for Aguero. That suggests if the Argentine can stay fit, he is the better option of the two but that could be an issue in itself with Aguero producing fewer minutes in 2019/20 than in any other campaign so far. However, the knee injury that curtailed last season looks to be behind him and he should be fresh for this campaign. Jesus is coming off the back of a career-best return of FPL points, goals and assists but Aguero narrowly earns the decision here based on his potential for a superior return even if playing fewer minutes.

Verdict: Sergio Aguero
