FPL Blank Gameweek 29 – head-to-head comparisons: Robert Sanchez vs Alphonse Areola

Since breaking into the Brighton side all the way back in Gameweek 13, goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) has impressed for the Seagulls, despite only keeping six clean sheets and currently has 65 FPL points to his name. Despite playing for a side currently sat inside the bottom three, Alphonse Areola (£0.1m) has proven a shining light behind the sticks for Fulham and with five clean sheets in his last eight Premier League games, will play a huge role for Scott Parker's side if they wish to retain their top flight status come the end of the season.

Blank Gameweek 29 sees both these goalkeepers face home fixtures, with Sanchez and Brighton hosting Newcastle, whilst Areola and Fulham welcome Leeds to Craven Cottage. Both provide great FPL value, with just £0.1m currently separating them in price. Newcastle however, have managed to find the net in three of their last four games, whereas Leeds have failed to score in their last three league matches. Overall, Fulham have shown more defensive consistency over the course of the last few gameweeks compared to Brighton, who have failed to keep a clean sheet since Gameweek 24 and therefore Areola gets the nod for us here.

Verdict: Alphonse Areola
