FPL Gameweek 25 – head-to-head comparisons: Emiliano Martinez vs Nick Pope
Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez (£5.3m) is a bonus machine and after scoring two more points than Nick Pope (£5.6m) with one less match played you could be forgiven for choosing the Argentine over every goalkeeper in the game for the rest of the season. Martinez is £0.3m cheaper than Pope and leads the Burnley man at the top of the Goalkeepers table by 16 points as things stand, with two games in-hand. Pope was part of a complete Burnley performance that left Crystal Palace with three goals and a clean sheet but they were disappointed to concede to Fulham on Wednesday, along with plenty of DGW24 hopefuls.
Double Gameweek 25 sees Villa host Leicester City in what should be an entertaining match indeed, though the Foxes’ away record is their stronger form and there could be goals galore there. Burnley host Sam Allardyce’s West Brom this Saturday with the greater chance for a clean sheet and so Nick Pope gets our shout this time around.
Verdict: Nick Pope
