FPL Gameweek 20 – head-to-head comparisons: Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Kieran Tierney
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) is part of a stuttering Liverpool side that are winless now in five Premier league games after they had their 68-match unbeaten run at Anfield snapped in a poor performance against Burnley on Thursday night. Alexander-Arnold is uncharacteristically low down the Defenders’ list on FPL right now as his usually prolific attacking returns have dried up this season. The same cannot be said for Kieran Tierney (£5.4m) whose ownership is steadily rising each week as he and Arsenal’s quiet revolution continues. Tierney grabbed his sixth clean sheet of the campaign against Newcastle in DGW19 and has one more attacking return than Alexander-Arnold at this stage.
The chance of another top-six stalemate for Liverpool away at Tottenham is certainly one to consider, though goals are more likely there then for Arsenal away at Southampton. The Saints were brought back down to Earth against Leicester last time out and have scored just one goal in their last five Premier League games. Clean sheets looks more likely for Arsenal this week, and with Alexander-Arnold’s attacking returns currently nowhere to be seen Tierney gets our nod here.
Verdict: Kieran Tierney
