Fabian Marozsan made a strong start to his Hangzhou Open campaign with a straight sets win over qualifier Alex Bolt. The sixth seed controlled the match, winning 6-4 6-2. That was a much-needed return to winning ways for Marozsan, after his disappointing first-round exit against Michael Zheng. Marozsan had shown much better form immediately before New York, reaching the quarter-finals of the Winston-Salem Open. The Hungarian has also progressed to ATP semi-finals in Auckland and Mallorca.

Taro Daniel has now won three consecutive matches in Hangzhou after also coming through qualifying. He beat Jake Delaney and Hayato Matsuoka, before producing a 7-6 (6) 6-2 victory over Dane Sweeny in round one. Daniel saved four of the five break points he faced against the Australian, and also won 77% of his first serve points. 

Marozsan is the higher ranked player and possesses considerably greater first-strike power. If he makes a strong start, he has enough quality to make things tough for Daniel.
