Fabian Marozsan transitioned back to hard courts in Washington last week, defeating Benjamin Bonzi in the first-round but then losing to Gabriel Diallo. His best result on the surface took place in Hong Kong right at the start of the year, as he beat Andrey Rublev and made it through to the quarter-finals.
His first-round opponent will be Hugo Dellien. The 32-year-old is not in the best of form, as he lost in the second-round of the Iasi Open on the Challenger Tour and then followed that up with an early exit in Bastad against Vit Kopriva. Dellien retired after going 6-1 3-0 down. His best results this season, which include a title in Prostejov and a final in Rosario, all took place on his favoured clay. He is without a main draw victory on a hard court this year.
