Fabian Marozsan vs Casper Ruud prediction

Fabian Marozsan came from a set down to defeat defending champion Gael Monfils in the opening round. The French veteran was playing the first match of his farewell season and made a strong start, taking the first set. However, Marozsan improved his level in the following two sets to win 5-7 6-3 6-4.

He now faces Casper Ruud. Ruud competed for Norway at the United Cup last week. He played in two singles matches, winning his first in impressive fashion against Alex de Minaur but then going on to lose in two competitive sets against Jakub Mensik. The former world number two will seek to return to the top 10 this year.

Marozsan actually leads the head-to-head after a win over Ruud in Shanghai two years ago at the round-of-16 stage. The three-time Grand Slam finalist will be focused on preparing strongly ahead of next week’s Australian Open and will start as the overwhelming favourite for this one.
