Fabian Marozsan vs Andrey Rublev prediction

Fabian Marozsan produced a strong performance to defeat Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca in straight sets and make it through to the second-round. The Hungarian won 6-3 7-6 and played the pressure points extremely well. Marozsan made the semi-finals of the BMW Open a few weeks ago and is in decent form heading into his match with Andrey Rublev.

Rublev dropped to 17 in the world after his early defeat to Alexander Bublik at the Madrid Open, having won the event the previous season. That’s the Russian’s lowest ranking for five and a half years and his clay court season just hasn’t got going over the last month. He lost to Arthur Fils in the third-round of Monte-Carlo and couldn’t get past Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the round-of-16 stage in Barcelona.

Rublev leads the head-to-head 2-1 and 1-0 on clay. They have faced off twice already this season, with Marozsan winning in Hong Kong at the beginning of the year and Rublev defeating the Hungarian in Rotterdam.

Their only match on clay took place last season at the Croatia Open with Rublev winning on that occasion. We think the same result will occur in Rome.
