Eva Lys comes into this one on the back of an emphatic and comfortable victory over Petra Marcinko in the first round the other day, having won 6-3, 6-0 against the Croats. The German had only won two games since the United Cup, in the first round of two clay tournaments, Stuttgart and Rome, against Paola Badosa and Katie Boulter.

Sorana Cirstea will be the favourite for this one against Eva Lys but Lys will believe she can at least bloody the nose of her Romanian counterpart.
