On the back Iga Swiatek’s Wimbledon triumph, the expectation was that she’d hit the ground running on the hard court and that’s exactly what she’s done. The multiple Grand Slam winner dropped just four games against Guo Hanyu in a two-set victory and appeared to be firmly locked in on the court.

Most impressive about Swiatek was her clutch play when off-serve. Six of the Pole’s eight earned break points were won and such conviction bodes extremely well moving forward. Eva Lys has already defeated one seeded opponent in Montreal, getting the better of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in round two and shouldn’t be underestimated.

But the fact is that Swiatek is superior across all facets of her game and in two previous matches against Lys, has dropped just three games combined, giving up no more than one game in each of the four sets played between the two. Any outcome other than a comfortably victory for Swiatek would be a shock.
