Ethan Quinn broke new ground in Mallorca as he reached his first ever tour-level final. Quinn fought back to beat Vit Kopriva in the quarter-finals and then thrashed Nuno Borges in the last four. He was unable to win the title as he lost in straight sets to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, but there were plenty of positives for Quinn to take heading into Wimbledon.
He will face Luciano Darderi in round one. The Italian also competed at that event as the top seed but lost in the quarter-finals to Borges. He did well on his SW19 debut last season, beating Arthur Fery and Roman Safiullin to reach round three.
It’s difficult to look past Quinn given how well he performed in Mallorca, but it is a very quick turnaround. If he is able to dominate his service games and apply pressure on his opponent, he has a very strong chance of victory.
